Job Description:
Senior Database Administrator:
Analyze, test and implement database designs that support new and
existing business applications.
Senior Database Administrator serves as member of Technology Team, with
primary responsibility for MS SQL database environment.
Senior database administrator will install/configure/ administer SQL
Server 2000/2005 databases on Windows 2003 Enterprise servers
(32bit/64bit) in high availability environment.
Implement database definitions, structure, documentation, and long range
requirements.
Ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements
for the MS SQL Server Database environment.
The Database administrator will work with developers on new development
projects and systems.
Performance tuning and resource monitoring of various databases.
The Database Administrator will ensure backup/recovery, installation &
upgrades of RDBMS.
Tune SQL performance at both infrastructure and index.
Create/tune/ optimize stored procedures and DTS/SSIS packages.
Expertise in designing/building/ maintaining transactional replication in
big multi-server production environment; in designing/building
automation modules/scripts for backup/archival/ ETL/cleanup tasks.
The SQL DBA will ensure partitioning, file group optimization, data
mirroring, log shipping, and cluster expertise .
Skills Required
Job Experience
3-6 years of solid experience working as MS SQL DBA at large enterprise
level.
Exposure/knowledge of SQL Server 2005.
Very good in trouble shooting problems . BS in engineering, computer
science or equivalent with 3-6 years of proven experience doing
production support (not development) of a highly transactional, dynamic
database environment. Candidate will have strong oral, written, and
interpersonal skills. Must have experience in doing production support
on databases supporting ecommerce websites. Must have experience working
in a highly active environment. This includes very good knowledge of SQL
Server 2005 and SQL 2000 and its interrelationship with the OS. Should
have worked with SQL 7.
Certificates in various database technologies are desirable.
Expertise with tuning hardware/SQL 2000/2005/Windows Server 2003 (32
bit/64 bit) for optimal SQL performance.
Expert-level transact SQL skills, including coding/debugging/ performance
tuning of complex stored procedures.
