Job Description
Required skills: Excellent knowledge of the SNA and TCPIP networking concepts and protocols SNA link and session data flows - including LU 6.2 (performing diagnosis of traces using traces for diagnosis and problem resolution) Sub area networking (connecting VTAM components together) APPN (performing configuration of APPN nodes and troubleshooting) Log mode definitions and how to optimize sessions CICS, DB2, and web connectivity. SNA-over-IP concepts and protocols LLC2, DLSW, SNA SW. In-depth knowledge of mainframe communication products. Software and hardware (to provide implementation and problem resolution support). OS/390 including USS (Unix) Communications Server/390 (VTAM, TCP/IP) Cisco CIP and TN3270 server. NCP OSA/SF 37x5 3172, 3x74 Configuration and support for IBM Communications Manager on platforms such as Windows, AIX/Unix variants, LINUX Configuration and support for Microsoft Windows server Demonstrated proficiency in the use of network diagnostic tools VTAM traces (isolating and solving network problems) NCP traces (isolating and solving network problems) University degree and at least 10 years of mainframe OS/390 systems programming, the last 5 of which at a similar position. Good knowledge of OS/390 environment, CICS and DB2 communications. Use of Performance analysis and capacity planning tools. Operating systems such as Windows95, 98, ME, NT & 2000 Server & Workstation (setup & proper configuring of network connection). Excellent understanding of network management concepts, facilities & protocols. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide first, second and third level network support Implement and support mainframe network services including network products and services Contribute to projects involving the mainframe network by understanding requirements, assessing available technology, and presenting systems solutions Monitor performance and capacity of our client’s mainframe network Track hardware and software levels Research and plan mainframe VTAM network facilities Provides technical guidance to team members within one or more specific application areas for projects requiring network connectivity IBM WebSphere and OSA-Express2 customization and monitoring. Excellent understanding of network management concepetes, facilities, protocols and products(IBM Tivoli, HP openview…., SNMP v3)
